Pensions lifeboat head Lady Judge defies critics

Her networking skills are legendary and as patron of a host of charities, she lays on lavish parties with her husband Sir Paul Judge, bringing together some of the City’s best-known figures.

In 1980, the Anglo-American lawyer was appointed as the youngest ever Commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission and has since had spells as deputy chairman of Friends Provident and chairman of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority.

Lady Judge has certainly been busy, some would say too busy. Such wide-ranging commitment have not come without controversy. In 2010 she resigned from the board of Massey Energy amid suggestions she was unable to devote sufficient time to the coal company because she sat on too many other boards.
